FAQ - Tantra Sessions

  • Myth 1: Tantra is all about sex

Fact: No, Tantra is NOT a sexual practice, and 99% of tantric practices have nothing to do with sex.

Tantra is a set of tools that help us understand the energies at play in our life. For example, our sexual energy, thoughts, emotions, reactions, childhood trauma, etc.

Now, they are three main reasons why people misassociate tantra with sex:

    • Tantra encourages the healthy expression of our sexual energy as a tool to reach liberation and expansion. Tantra does not ban sex, unlike other spiritual practices.

    • In 1990, the singer Sting made an infamous comment about his seven-hour tantric sex sessions.

    • Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, also known as OSHO, called his doctrine neo-tantra. He has contributed to the Western misinterpretation of tantra as a “sex cult.”

Finding a tantra teacher who offers authentic tantra teaching seems quite challenging, but I’m here! Reach out to me if you are interested.

  • Myth 2: Tantra is an erotic massage

Fact: No, tantra does NOT include erotic massages.

When I receive queries about my services, very often it is men contacting me to get an erotic massage with a happy ending. But tantra does NOT include erotic massages, nevertheless happy endings!

What we know as “Tantra massage” is an invention of the 20th century! It has nothing related to traditional tantra!

“Tantra massage” was developed in Berlin in 1977. It mixes massage techniques with yoga, bioenergetics, and sexual therapy.

You will find massage salons with sexy girls in lingerie when you google tantra massages. It is not tantra!

To the very best, a “tantra massage” done with integrity will move the life force energy through the body for healing.

The end goal is not to release sexual tension, even though it is not avoided or repressed, should it arise naturally.

I do not offer “tantra massages.”

  • Myth 3: Tantra will improve my sex life

Fact: Yes, and no. This one is not entirely a myth, and tantra will improve your sex life only by deepening your connection to yourself and your body first.

You will gain awareness of your body, mind, thoughts, and traumas and learn how to breathe, relax, and be fully present. It will help you last longer in bed or have more powerful orgasms, but it is not the end goal, just a consequence of practicing tantra.

Tantra will improve your sex life, such as mindfulness, meditation or yoga.

Tantra does not teach you sex positions! It is not the Kamasutra! And there is not such a thing as a tantric sex position! If a sex position is defined as tantric, it is be a position designed to increase spirituality and body awareness.

  • Myth 4: You can’t practice tantra online

Fact: No, you CAN be initiated to tantra online.

It is becoming increasingly common to receive Tantric initiations online or learn about tantra online.

Most of my sessions happen online! So you can receive initiation from the comfort of your home.

You need a laptop/tablet/mobile phone with a stable internet connection and a quiet space where you can move around the room. Wear soft, comfortable clothing and use a yoga mat or blanket for the exercises. It is best to come with an empty stomach too!

There are also a lot of tantra schools online too. But please, be very careful. There are also a lot of scams! I taught for two years at an online tantra school and recently discovered unpleasant truths about the founder, who prey on people's vulnerability and money while mistreating their contributors. Actions speak louder than the empty words you’ll find on some websites.

If you have to learn, please learn from someone living tantra by example. Integrity and respect are values I take very seriously!

  • Myth 5: Tantra involves nudity

Fact: No. Tantra does not involve nudity or sexual contact. You are only required to wear comfortable clothes.

But if you want to be naked, why not? There are no rules about nudity apart from respecting boundaries and consent.

First, ask yourself the question. Why do you desire to be naked in front of a stranger?

If it is to exhibit yourself and impose your genitals on others, that’s a no.

If it is an expression of freedom, self-acceptance, or a demonstration of trust and vulnerability, then why not.

  • Myth 6: I need a partner to practice tantra

Fact: No, you don’t need a partner to practice tantra.

Many people are worried, “I don’t have a partner, so I can’t practice tantra.” But you don’t need a partner to practice tantra.

Tantra is, first and foremost, a practice to deepen your connection with yourself, so you must practice it alone anyway.

  • Myth 7: Tantra is not for everyone

Fact: Again, since tantra has nothing to do with sex, it is for anyone of age.

You need no prior knowledge before practicing, just an open mind and the willingness to learn about yourself.

That is to say, most people interested in learning about themselves usually reach their quarter-of-life crisis or later.
